A Quick Look at Mobile Ordering at WDW

We spent a fabulous(ly hot) week at Walt Disney World last August, which seems like a million years ago. If you read our recent post where we listed our favorite new things at the Disney parks, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of a certain new-ish addition to the My Disney Experience app. I’m here to spread the word near and far about the greatest thing to hit Walt Disney World since Dole Whip. OK, maybe not, but mobile ordering will change the way you vacation at WDW.

One of the worst things about theme park life is the interminable waits for rides, characters, and food. Well mobile ordering will help you avoid the long lines at your favorite quick serve restaurants! Unfortunately it can’t help lines for Flight of Passage. That’s what Fastpasses are for! Currently there are 24 locations in all four parks and some resorts that accept mobile orders.

You will need your MDE (My Disney Experience) app to take advantage of mobile ordering. From My Plans, simply go to Order Food, pick the restaurant you’d like to order from and place your order. When you mosey over to pick up your food, check in on the app and your food will magically appear at the designated place. Just look for the “mobile order pickup” sign. You’re guaranteed to feel like a total Disney pro when you bypass the line of hungry park-goers to pick up your food. The app will automatically apply any discounts, such as for DVC members or annual passholders (this applies more at Disneyland.) It also deducts the appropriate amount of credits if you’re using the Disney Dining Plan. Otherwise it will use the credit card you have linked to your account. Right now, Cosmic Ray’s in the Magic Kingdom and D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs have expanded offerings on their mobile order menus. So be sure to look out for those and other “secret menu” offerings to impress your friends and family!

So, next time you’re at Disney, don’t waste time standing in lines to order counter service food. Just open your MDE app and order away! For more tips and tricks to make your Disney vacation easier and more enjoyable, make sure to subscribe to our blog.
